Usage data policy

When installing the Plugin Manager you can choose to share with us some usage data that we use to help the Sweet Home 3D community.
Please note that the data collected is completely anonymous.

Which data we collect

We only collect the following data:
  • the version of Sweet Home 3D in use
  • the list of the installed plugins
  • your language settings
  • the country you are located in

How we use your data

We aggregate plugin installations by language and country to help plugin developers to know which languages are most used by their plugin users, so that the developers are more prone to add a translation for your language to their plugins. Aggregate data is publicly available from here. We don't share any data specific to your installation.

How we track your data

To ensure your installation is counted just once we have to uniquely identify your installation (please note that we only identify your Plugin Manager installation, not you as a person). To identify your installation we install a cookie into your Sweet Home 3D data folder. We use this cookie only for this specific purpose and we don't share it with 3rd parties. By enabling the "send anonymous usage data" feature you accept the use of this cookie.

Why should you enable the "send anonymous usage data" feature

Most plugin developers share their plugins without charge, only to help the Sweet Home 3D community grows.
The better way to payback their work is to let them know you are using their plugins. I strongly encourage you to thank the plugins developers on the Sweet Home 3D forum, however it is really hard for a developer to really know how many people use his plugins. This feature aims to help developers to know that their plugins are appreciated.
If only few people use a plugin, the developer will probably stops improving it, and you will lose the chance to get a feature you wish, or even worst, the plugin may also stop working in future releases of Sweet Home 3D.

Can I change my choice?

Yes, you can always change your choice. Go to Tools -> Plugin manager..., then select the Settings tab and change your preference.
